Private Mentoring
An experienced mentor alongside you as you shape what comes next
and begin to make it real.
Knowing what you want is one thing
You may already have a plan for the years ahead.
You may have a clear sense of what you want to change,
explore or make room for.
You may simply know that there are things you want from your life that you don’t want to keep putting off.
But however clear you are about what you want, that’s not always the end of the story.
Making it happen is another.
Life gets involved. Other things take priority.
You may know where you want to go, but not necessarily how to get there.
You can find yourself faced with decisions you don’t know how to make, or questions you hadn’t realised you would need to answer.
Confidence can wobble.
Old patterns can reassert themselves.
And sometimes, despite all your good intentions, the weeks and months simply pass.
Perhaps you have plenty of time,
but without the structures and deadlines that once organised your days,
it can be surprisingly difficult to get started or keep things moving.
And as you begin exploring what you want, things can change.
A new possibility appears.
Something you thought was right turns out not to be.
This is where having an experienced mentor alongside you
can make an enormous difference.
Someone walking beside you
When you’re trying to make changes in your life,
it can be enormously valuable to have someone alongside you
who knows what you’re working towards,
understands what matters to you,
and can help keep you on track.
I can help you keep sight of your future when everyday life takes over,
ask the questions that keep you thinking and moving,
and remind you of the things you said were important when they begin to slip quietly down the list.
I’ll gently challenge you when I think you’re talking yourself out of something,
or when an old pattern is pulling you back towards the familiar.
I’ll notice when you’re going round in circles.
And if you say you’re going to do something, you can expect me to remember.
But good mentoring isn’t about holding you rigidly to a plan.
Life changes. Circumstances change.
And as you begin trying things, you learn things.
An idea may evolve into something quite different.
A possibility you hadn’t considered may appear.
Something you thought you wanted may turn out not to be right for you at all.
My job is to walk alongside you through all of that –
helping you distinguish between the moments when you need encouragement to keep going
and the moments when changing direction is exactly the right thing to do.
The decisions remain yours.
Your life is yours.
But you have someone beside you who knows what you’re trying to create
and is committed to helping you make it real.
What I bring to the relationship
I’ve spent much of my working life helping people see things they couldn’t yet see for themselves.
I listen very closely – not only to what you’re telling me,
but to what happens as you tell me.
The hesitation around something that sounded completely certain five minutes earlier.
The sudden lift in your energy when you talk about something that excites you.
The change in your expression when we touch on something that really matters.
Some of that ability is instinctive,
but it also has deep professional roots.
I’ve been seeing what most people don’t see for almost fifty years.
My original degree training included personality assessment through movement,
using the work of Rudolf Laban to understand what posture, gesture and movement can reveal about personality and inner life.
I also bring forty years of experience of making things happen in the real world.
I’ve created and run businesses and organisations,
developed ideas from nothing,
led people, built communities,
solved problems,
changed direction and found ways through when things haven’t worked as planned.
And for many years I’ve mentored women
Helping them recognise possibilities,
develop confidence in their own judgement
and make changes in their lives.
All of that experience comes into the room with me.
I won’t simply ask you questions and leave you to find every answer for yourself.
When I have experience that could help you, I’ll share it.
I’ll offer ideas,
suggest possibilities,
make connections and challenge an assumption
if I think it needs challenging.
But perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned that good mentoring is never formulaic.
Different people need different things –
and the same person can need different things at different moments.
Sometimes I’ll ask the question that helps you see something differently.
Sometimes I’ll offer practical advice or an idea.
Sometimes I’ll remind you of something you’ve forgotten about yourself.
Sometimes I’ll encourage you to keep going.
And sometimes the most useful thing I can do
is recognise that now isn’t the moment to push at all.
That’s the judgement that comes from experience.
How we work together
We begin with a deep-dive discussion about the year ahead –
where you are now,
what you want to make happen,
and, most importantly,
what you need from me as your mentor.
If we’ve already worked together through Design Your Future,
we’ll be building on everything we’ve discovered together
and the plans you’ve already made.
If you’re coming to me directly,
we’ll spend more time exploring where you are
and what you want from the year ahead.
From there, we work together for approximately a year.
There isn’t a rigid schedule of twelve monthly sessions,
because I don’t think that’s how good mentoring works.
Sometimes it will make sense to meet again quite quickly.
At other times, you may need six or eight weeks
to try something, let an idea develop,
or recognise that life really has to take over for a short while.
So we agree how we want to work together and adjust it as we go, depending on what is happening and what you need.
The relationship is structured enough to give you continuity and momentum,
but flexible enough to work around your life.
Private and Premium Private Mentoring
There are two ways to work with me
Both options give you the same depth and quality of mentoring.
The difference is the level of involvement you would like from me between our main mentoring conversations.
Private Mentoring
£3,600 for approximately one year
or 12 monthly payments of £300
Private Mentoring gives you an ongoing relationship with me over the course of the year,
with mentoring conversations arranged around what is happening in your lifeand when they will be most useful.
Between our conversations, we’ll stay lightly in touch,
and when something important arises, you can bring it to our next mentoring discussion and we’ll work through it together.
You’ll have someone alongside you who knows the bigger picture,
remembers what matters to you,
and can offer perspective, ideas,
challenge and practical guidance as your plans develop.
Premium Private Mentoring
£6,000 for approximately one year
or 12 monthly payments of £500
Premium Private Mentoring gives you the same depth and quality of mentoring,
with a greater level of my personal involvement between our main conversations.
That might mean having a quick extra call when something needs thinking through,
or I can give my input on a proposal or plan you’re developing.
I might research possibilities that could be useful to you,
send you occasional ideas, resources or connections,
or help you prepare for an important decision or conversation.
There may also be occasions when it makes sense for us to meet in person, where that’s practical.
This isn’t a fixed package of additional sessions or deliverables.
It’s a more involved mentoring relationship,
in which I have the time and space to think about what you’re doing
between our conversations and contribute when that would be useful.
Is Private Mentoring for you?
I work with only a small number of private mentoring clients at any one time,
because this kind of relationship requires real thought, attention and involvement from me.
So the first step isn’t to sign up. It’s to have a conversation.
We’ll talk about what you’re looking for,
how I feel I can genuinely help,
and which level of support would suit you best.
If you’d like to explore working with me, you can book a conversation here.
